Six days of cooking, visiting markets and producers and of course eating. Course details Arrive at your accommodation on Saturday afternoon between 4-5pm where you will be met by myself and Steph. We will settle you into your accommodation and then enjoy an apero together (drink and nibbles) so I can talk you through the 3 day course. Steph will then provide you with a delicious welcoming dinner.
Day 1 – We will meet at 10am at Les Halles in Angouleme the covered food market where we will take in all the amazing produce available and then enjoy a lunch at one of the stalls. We will then have our first cooking class in the afternoon making a delicious evening meal together, before you return to your accommodation.
Day 2 – The morning is yours to relax and enjoy and I will meet you at 2pm at a local producers to learn about the making of the produce and you can shop or just explore the farm. Steph will cook dinner for you or recommend a local restaurant.
Day 3 – A 11 am start today and we will begin the preparation for a 3 course meal. A light lunch of local meats, cheese and salads will be taken and then after a short siesta we will complete the 3 courses for dinner together. Hopefully we can eat al fresco before you return to the accommodation. I will then say my goodbyes to those leaving the next morning and you will be given a folder with all the recipes we have cooked before returning to your accommodation.
Day 4 – Seven day culinary experience guests will have the day off to explore the beautiful region. Wednesday morning will be the end of the The food lovers retreat guests and Steph will bid you farewell.
Day 5 – You will meet me here at my home at 10am where I will drive you to a local Pineau des Charentes and cognac producer to learn about the process involved in the making of both. We will then return to the house and enjoy a light lunch of local salads, charcuterie and of course some Pineau. The afternoon we will visit another producer and then you are free for your late afternoon and evening to dine with Steph or enjoy dinner out.
Day 6 – A full day’s cooking where together we will prepare and cook a fabulous 4-5 course meal to enjoy today to celebrate the end of a fantastic week of food experiences in Poitou Charente. We will eat a light lunch and take a little siesta after lunch. After that back to cook the remaining dishes for the evening meal.
Day 7 – is checkout day, which is 10.30 am. Steph will see you off whether it is to return home or continue your holiday in France.
The price of the Seven day culinary experience is 1750 euros per participant (own room). The price per non participant partner sharing the participants room is an additional 100 euros. This includes 7 nights accommodation, breakfast every morning, 5 evening meals, all trips to producers & markets, 1 lunch out at a local restaurant (plat du jour) and all the cooking classes. There will be a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 6 participants per course.
